About the Role

CIG continues to expand hence we are looking for a suitable candidate to join our team in the Port Moresby office in Papua New Guinea or Suva office in Fiji. The potential candidate will be reporting to the Head of Risk and will be an integral member of the broader Risk and Governance team. This role will work closely with Country Managers and Head of functions to protect and support businesses within risk scope.
Responsibilities of this role will include:
- Overseeing the management and operation of the overarching Enterprise Risk Management Framework and compliance with underlying prudential standards.
- Monitoring and overseeing any required remediation of material risk events and control weaknesses and ensuring continuous improvement, driving risk awareness and a positive risk culture.
- Preparation and presentation of pro-active risk reporting for the Board Audit Risk & Compliance Committee at least quarterly
- Providing support and subject matter expertise in relation to strategic initiatives, business continuity planning and projects.
- Facilitate workshops to undertake risk and control assessments, maintaining relevant documents.
- Provide insights on root cause(s), identify actions to be implemented to prevent such losses in the future and ensure operational loss/compliance incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report on key risk indicators and internal control performance to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to strengthening the divisional risk culture through increasing awareness of risk management and compliance.
The ideal candidate must:
- At least 5 years of working experience gained from financial institutions in risk management/audit.
- Sound understanding of an enterprise risk management framework.
- Experience in controls assurance and conducting risk and control assessments with a solid understanding of financial services regulations is highly desirable
- Highly developed problem-solving skills, combined with a curious and creative mind-set.
- Strong analytical skills, organisational skills and a high attention to detail
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to confidently build working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Relevant Bachelor and/or Tertiary qualifications in compliance and/or risk management, commerce, business management or law.
Ability to work autonomously and under broad direction. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
