About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial management and statutory reporting, streamlining month-end processes, and maintaining strong control over operational and capital expenditures of Vanuatu. You will also be responsible for effective asset management and supporting continuous improvements within the finance function.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month-end reconciliations, journal entries, and regular financial reports
- Prepare and present financial reports tailored to the business’s needs
- Compile and submit regulatory returns
- Support the development of budgets and financial forecasts
- Assist with taxation, statutory compliance, and audit activities
- Contribute to process improvements while maintaining robust financial controls
- Provide ad hoc support to the broader finance team as required
About you:
- Proven ability to apply initiative and strong accounting knowledge to deliver results within tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong numeracy, analytical, and conceptual thinking abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively and mentor junior team members
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified CA/CPA or near completion, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance or relevant experience gained within a chartered firm
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Excellent Communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced), Word, and PowerPoint
