In this article, we spotlight Angelynne Bonga – a support underwriter with our General Insurance team.

When did you start and what is one thing you know about Capital?

I started with Capital in 2017 and one thing that I know about Capital is that it is owned by the members of the four largest non-banking financial institutions in PNG – TISA, Nambawan Super, Nasfund and Credit Corporation. That means that Capital is locally owned by ordinary Papua New Guineans.

 What changes have you seen within CIG since you joined?

There is more focus on using technology to deliver services which I believe is critical for our business.  Better systems allow us to service our customers efficiently and help make better decisions moving forward.

What are some ways that you are doing to contribute to this change?

I encourage the habit of asking questions. If you are not too sure about something, there is no harm to find out and seek help. That also means that I reach out and assist my fellow colleague who may need some help or when I need help – we are all here to service our clients as a team.

Why do you think insurance is important?

It’s protection for you and those that depend on you. Life is unpredictable and your family depend on your financial support which is why insurance is essential. It simply means that people who matter most in your life such as your kids can be protected from financial hardships if unexpected events occur.

How do you balance your career and family?

I practice the compartmentalizing method. I have two main compartments – one for family and one work. Before I leave for work I make sure my family is comfortable at home so I can go to work and focus. I park all family matters aside and try my best to get fully utilized during the day for work, unless there is an emergency of course or something important, I attend to my family. After a full day’s work, I am ready to go home and just be myself for my family and I.

Any random facts/hobbies you could share with us (anything fun away from work)? 

I can drive both manual and automatic vehicles but I do not own a car. I love cooking and baking, and I am also a sports fanatic.

Is there any particular product or services you want customers to be aware off?
