We believe that individuals have the ability and responsibility to bring positive change to the communities in which they live and work. Doing well in the marketplace affords us an opportunity to do good in the community.
Our associates – our greatest resource – serve as ambassadors for CIG’s value of generosity of spirit, as they commit skills, passion and time as active and engaged associates and citizens. To support and encourage their commitment, Capital Insurance Group initiated the Stars Volunteer Program under the Capital Outreach Umbrella – a benefit that provides paid time off for associates to impact their community through service during regularly scheduled work hours.
We decided that it should be a bottom up approach by asking each of our associates to decide what specific causes they want to support and passionate about.
They fill out a nomination form, highlighting their charity of choice. We then contact the charity and find out if our associates can come and do any volunteering work onsite at the charity’s location. The charity decides what our volunteers can do. Once each associate completes the required hours, they are eligible to present a cash donation to the charity that they volunteered in and they receive a certificate of community work.
The outcomes are three-fold:
- Capital Insurance Group – Drives an inclusive culture and we want our brand to be in-touch with people.
- Associates – Builds leadership and the social alertness helps individual learning and development.
- Charities – Utilize additional resource while promotion of the charity with a financial sponsorship linked to fund the charities charter.
We are rolling this across the group, we believe that this is the right thing to do as a leading insurer in the pacific. Our PNG team has already activated this program through the following charities Links of Hope and Cheshire Homes.
