Jeremy was appointed to Group Chief Executive Officer effective 23^rd of September 2021. Jeremy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in insurance and leadership, gained from working within PNG and abroad. He has a strong technical, commercial, and leadership background with more than 20 years of insurance industry knowledge across a broad range of disciplines in both life and general insurance abroad and locally. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Norton previously held the position of Group COO at CIG. He was also Regional General Manager for Tower Insurance Pacific and has held other senior executive roles in the insurance industry.

Tichaona Mukandi was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer in June 2021. Tich brings a wealth of experience in technical accounting, audit, finance operations and financial reporting to the group. Prior to this appointment, he previously held the position of Audit Director at Deloitte, Papua New Guinea and has acquired over 14 years of combined experience in professional services and commerce, working across various sectors in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe and Timor-Leste. Tich is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from University of South Africa. He is currently a member of CPA PNG and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

David Ariff Chan leads Capital Insurance Limited (CIL) as Chief Executive Officer, overseeing Fiji, Vanuatu, and Tonga. With over 25 years’ experience across the Asia Pacific, including roles at ACE (now Chubb), Lumley General, HLA, Guild Insurance, Willis Towers Watson, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, and Gallagher, David brings expertise in insurance leadership. His vision emphasises innovation, responsiveness, and resilience, shaping CIL’s future. David’s collaborative approach fosters mutually beneficial outcomes, driving growth ambitions in the Pacific. Recognised for decisive leadership, he identifies opportunities and develops innovative offerings. Together, Capital Insurance Limited and stakeholders anticipate a future defined by excellence, growth, and prosperity.

Richard Goswell, our Group Chief Operating Officer, brings over 16 years of insurance industry experience in Australia. Beginning as an intern at Allianz, he progressed through underwriting and corporate account management, later focusing on underwriting and claims risk assurance at QBE Group Head Office. At Ansvar Australia, he managed a unique casualty portfolio, specializing in faith, age, disability care, childcare, and education risks. Prioritizing customer satisfaction and staff well-being, Richard was guided by the proverb “Give a person a fish, and you feed them for a day. Teach someone to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime.” Outside work, he enjoys family time, outdoor adventures, and sports like Cricket and Rugby Union. Richard holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Insurance and Risk Management, and is a Fellow of ANZIIF.

Sena Bakar joined Capital Insurance in 2023 and serves as Group Executive General Manager Governance and Company Secretary. Sena brings an extensive wealth of international experience in governance and regulatory compliance, having worked as a corporate lawyer and company secretary since 2015, across various industries. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, a Bachelor of Law degree, and a PLC certificate from the Ghana School of Law. She is passionate about women’s development and is an avid football fan.

Mele is the Head of Strategy Enablement, collaborating closely with the Group CEO and Group CFO to drive key strategic initiatives across the organization. She also overseers the Marketing and Growth department. Mele has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Politics from the University of the South Pacific. She is also an alumnus of the Women in Leadership fellowship under East-West University and is a member of the Global Leadership Interlink network. Mele is passionate about community development and ethical leadership.

Ilaivaha has nearly two decades in the local insurance industry with few years in the broker business. Ilaivaha has a Bachelor of Arts (BA), in Management and Public Administration from the University of South Pacific. She is also a keen supporter of Tongan Women’s Rugby and is an active contributor to programs that add value to the local Tongan communities.

Thelma has 14 years of insurance experience. She is a Senior Associate and has a Diploma in General Insurance and Risk Management from ANZIIF. She is the vice president of Vanuatu Netball Association and provide support to women associations within the local community. These includes – Women and Girls in ICT, Women and Girls Network. Most recently Thelma has set up a new Women’s group LeiFenuah N’vate to help communities access vital services.

Edward, a seasoned insurance and risk specialist with 15+ years of experience, excels in designing robust insurance programs. As a Fellow of ANZIIF, he demonstrates expertise and dedication to the field. Outside work, Edward enjoys bushwalking, hunting, delving into family recipes, and exploring new destinations, feeding his love for travel.

Simba, Group Financial Controller at Capital Insurance Group Limited, has a rich background in insurance and auditing from roles at QBE Insurance (PNG) Limited and KPMG PNG. A Chartered Accountant with degrees from the University of Zimbabwe and the University of South Africa, he prioritizes mentorship and personal well-being alongside his career.

Mona-Lisa Paul, Group Head of Claims Strategy & Performance, brings over 13 years of claims management expertise across the Pacific. She holds a Bachelor’s in Information & Communication Science and certifications as a Senior Associate and Certified Insurance Professional from ANZIIF. Her career includes key roles at TOWER, QBE, Liberty Assurance, and Pacific MMI.

At CIG, Mona-Lisa focuses on streamlining claims processes, establishing Group Claims Standards, and enhancing performance across five markets. Beyond her professional role, she empowers others through mentorship, life coaching, and affiliate marketing, fostering growth and leadership while driving impactful industry contributions.

Jonathan Owens is the Head of IT and Digital at Capital Insurance Group Limited. His passion for technology began unexpectedly when he discovered the field while exploring career options in a school leaver booklet.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce – Commercial Computing from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology and is an APNIC Fellow.

With over 15 years of experience, Jonathan has held diverse roles across non – government organizations, retail, hospitality, consultancy, fast-moving consumer goods, and mining & exploration. He is passionate about Information Technology and Cybersecurity and how Technology can play a pivotal role in having a positive impact on businesses, communities and people.

Aphiwe Anne Mpuma is the Head of Claims at Capital Insurance Group Limited. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of South Africa, a Higher Certificate in Underwriting and Claims, and recently earned an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

An experienced insurance professional, Aphiwe has a decade of expertise in the industry, spanning both the UK and Southern African markets. She previously served as the Regional Claims Manager for South Africa and Namibia at one of Africa’s leading insurers.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Aphiwe combines technical knowledge with strategic insight to enhance claims processing and operational efficiency.

Outside of work, she is an enthusiastic netball player, a passionate rugby supporter, and an avid outdoor enthusiast.
